The Mike Arnold Perpetual Trophy

Some traditions are born of celebration. Others are born of love — love for a breed, for a community, and for the people who give everything to both. The 2026 Lake Shore Great Dane Club Specialty Series was shaped by all of these things, and at its heart stood a tribute long overdue: the introduction of the Mike Arnold Perpetual Trophy.

Mike Arnold was one of those rare individuals who didn't simply admire the Great Dane — he devoted himself to the breed entirely. A tireless supporter, an enthusiastic presence ringside, and a man whose passion for these magnificent dogs was evident in everything he did, Mike was taken from us far too soon. This trophy, bearing his name and awarded in his honor, ensures that his spirit remains woven into the fabric of every specialty we hold. It is our privilege to carry his legacy forward.

Once again, eight specialties were offered across the weekend, and once again every single one of them made a five-point major — a testament to the caliber of dogs and exhibitors this series continues to attract. The raffle that debuted so warmly in 2025 had by now grown into something truly spectacular, drawing crowds and generating a level of excitement that reminded everyone why they make the journey each year.

To every exhibitor who trusted us with their entry, to the judges and stewards who brought their expertise and grace to the rings, and to our incredible club members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes — your dedication made this weekend unforgettable. The Great Dane community is extraordinary, and we are grateful beyond words to be part of it.
